Schedule:
  • 4pm—5:30pm      Abenaki Ski-A-Thon!
  • 5:30pm—7:00pm   Christmas Tree Bonfire and Awards
The Ski-a-Thon will be two back to back 60 minute endurance skiing events between up to 40 skiers and snowboarders to see who can ski the most laps in that hour. Prior to the event, participants will seek pledges per lap skied, with all proceeds benefitting the Friends of Abenaki. Participants may ski on any trail and the hill will be closed to the public during the event. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to come cheer on the skiers during this exciting event. Prizes will be awarded for most laps skied and most money raised per lap. Register for the event online here.

Most Laps
1st - $75 gift card to Ski Works
2nd - $50 gift card to Nordic Skier
3rd - $25 gift card to Ski Works

Most Money Raised per Lap
1st – Winter season pass to Wolfeboro XC Ski trails
2nd - $50 gift card to Ski Works
3rd - $25 gift card to Nordic Skier
The event is for ages 5 and older—and we encourage adults to participate! The real challenge of the event is to see who can get the most pledges per lap that you ski as this is a fundraiser to help build the new Ski Lodge!
Participants first register online then download donor forms from the Parks and Recreation website. $10 participation fee helps cover costs of the event, and you'll get a bag of goodies with an Abenaki beanie cap and free stickers.
Then you go out and get pledges from people you know. Each person you get to pledge fills out a donor pledge form. Each pledge is per lap that you ski during the 60 minutes of the Ski-a-Thon. For example, a donor can pledge $3 per lap and then you go ski 7 laps during the Ski-a-Thon--then they would owe $21.00.~We estimate that novice skiers will be able to ski about 15-20 laps during an hour, intermediates about 20-30 laps per pour, and advanced skiers about 30-40 laps per hour.
Each participant will need to collect at least 5 pledges (of at least $0.50 per lap each) in order to participate. Minimum pledge is $0.50 per lap. No maximum pledge. All donor pledge forms will need to be turned in on the day of the event. Participants do not need to collect money from donors. Friends of Abenaki will mail them their bill following the event. All proceeds go towards the construction of the new Abenaki Lodge in 2015!~
Maximum 80 participants in the event. Participants must be at least 5 years old, with no maximum age for participation.
Prizes will be awarded for most laps skied and for most money pledged per lap. So you can win prizes for either skiing fast or being a really good fundraiser--no need to ski fast to win the "most money pledged" prize! Costumes encouraged--must not have any loose or dangling parts.
The music will be cranking and, food, burgers, hot cocoa and more will be available for sale.
We will light up the Christmas Tree Bonfire at 5:30pm following the Ski-A-Thon. Drop your Christmas Trees at Abenaki or at Wolfeboro Solid Waste any time after December 26 and we will collect them and burn them in a big bonfire on January 24th at about 5:30pm! ~Results will be announced and prizes awarded at the fire.

Abenaki Ski Area is the oldest small ski area in America and is located at 390 Pine Hill Rd in Wolfeboro, NH. Abenaki opens for its 79th season on December 26th, 2014.
