As part of its educational mission, on July 23, 2019, the Wright proudly presents its first World War II Symposium, honoring the 75th anniversary of D Day. The Symposium is generously sponsored by Two International Group of Portsmouth.

The Museum’s “Symposium on D Day” will be held in the Great Hall of the Wolfeboro Town Hall on South Street, from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.  The Symposium will feature the two national best-selling authors, Patrick K. O’Donnell and Alex Kershaw. Following a Q&A period, the authors will sign copies of their books. (Books will be available for purchase from the authors at that time).

Patrick K. O’Donnell is a combat historian and bestselling author of 11 books spanning the American Revolution to the Battle of Fallujah. He is the leading expert on America’s elite and special operations units. His best-selling book on D Day, Dog Company, The Boys of Pointe du Hoc, has been called, “A powerful account of World War II and a ‘must’ for any military history holding.” O’Donnell’s other books include: Beyond Valor, The Unknowns, Give Me Tomorrow, and Into the Rising Sun. His most recent book, Washington’s Immortals, has been named one of the “100 Best American Revolution Books of All Time.” As an expert on WWII espionage, special operations, and counterinsurgency on the modern battlefield, O’Donnell has assisted with the writing and production of numerous documentaries produced by the BBC, the History Channel, and others.

Alex Kershaw is an historian and widely acclaimed award-winning author of several New York Times best-selling books about WWII. Those books include: The Bedford Boys, The Longest Winter, The Few, Escape from the Deep, The Liberator, and Avenue of Spies. Kershaw is a graduate of University College, Oxford, and worked as a journalist for The Guardian and other newspapers before moving to the US in 1994. His latest book is The First Wave, published to mark the 75th anniversary of D Day. The First Wave has been called, “an epic of close combat and extraordinary heroism. It is the capstone Alex Kershaw’s remarkable career.” Kershaw’s 2012 book, The Liberator, is being made into a drama series to be aired by Netflix in 2020. Kershaw is an honorary colonel in the 116th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Division.

Admission is $15.00 per person for non-members and $10.00 for Wright Museum members. Because of limited seating, we strongly encourage you to make reservations by registering online at  https://www.wrightmuseum.org/events/symposium/  or by calling 603-569-1212.
